Kansas? Really?
It just gets better and better, doesn't it Longhorn nation? Gotta love it...
The shake up begins starting last weekend with OU officially being knocked out of the hunt, while simultaneously Notre Dame propelled itself up to the hunt. And how about those Bulldogs? Didn't see that coming at all - but I will say this: Florida had 6 turnovers, SIX. And they were still in a position to tie the game at the end. I'm just saying....
Longhorn Debacle:
I'm not sure if I can call it a complete debacle as they won. Mercifully I saw very little of this game, so I had that going for me. I saw the last 7 minutes or so. Regardless, wow. I mean, wow. I don't know what else to say about it, so I won't. But I will add this - if you are defending Manny Diaz in any way, shape or form, than you need to have your head examined. Same problems, different week. Can't stop the run. Gave up another career day to Kansas' running back. Ugh.
Looking ahead to Tech this coming weekend, I'm not optimistic (nor should I be). Second of back-to-back road trips, this time against an equally as motivated, but more talented and better-coached team. I know Tech just got smoked by Kstate, but so has everyone else who's played them - they're a top 3 team - but this team still has to be believing that they can whip Texas and are itching to come show it in front of their home crowd. I just can't confidently say "oh, this is the week that Texas really turns it on". I'm glad to see them sticking with Ash (although his performance was quite disturbing), he's been a top tier QB, statistically, this season. This is the right move. But can we please just get rid of Malcolm Brown? What a puss this guy is - very disappointing career so far. Not a fan right now, but a fan of the fact that we've got four other running backs who I like a lot.
If you're making me pick a score, you can scroll down to see it...I'm not ready to type it.
It's late on this Halloween night so let's make it a quick-fire edition, shall we?
Texas Tech - 49
Texas - 34
NFL Notes:
Almost half-way through the season - so a few thoughts...

- This just in...Notre Dame is for rizzles. The way these guys are winning is impressive as - at home, on the road (in Norman no doubt...look it up, doesn't happen often), in blowout fashion, and in drag out, bang out fights where you play ugly, but find a way to win - they do it all. Their schedule gets easier until that last game against USC....which may or may not be that tough. Either way, these guys are in the hunt, no doubt.
- In other news, is there a bigger trap game than Notre Dame going to a very bad Pitt team this weekend? Me thinks not....
- Don't look now, but Rich Rodriguez may be putting a pretty good team together, right under our noses. Will be interesting to see how they do with UCLA this weekend - not the toughest opponent, but they're still 5-2. Could be a good game.
- I'm putting the chances pretty low that all four of the current undefeated teams remain that way by season's end. Any or all could lose and it wouldn't shock me. Both Oregon and Alabama are finally hitting the proverbial teeth of their schedules, while Kansas State still gets Texas at home (pausing for laughter....), and Okie Light this weekend, but that's really it. Notre Dame just completed a pretty impressive gauntlet of opponents - next three get easy (on paper) until last game with USC. If I'm betting I think it comes down to Oregon and Bama or Oregon and Kansas State. My only concern with Oregon is the fact that they are blowing teams out and their starters haven't played a complete game yet. I'd like to see how they handle adversity, and the fact that they aren't up by 40 in the first ten minutes. We may see this weekend.
- Part of me wants to see Notre Dame vs Kansas State - as much as I dislike the Irish. Just think it would be a great game.
- Sad thing that happened to that Lattimore kid in S. Carolina. He's a great talent - and two pretty bad knee injuries in consecutive years.
Texas Tech - 49

NFL Notes:
Almost half-way through the season - so a few thoughts...
- Good surprise: Ryan Tannehill - all of a sudden this thing looks for real, right? Certainly this kid (and team) have exceed expectations...
- Bad surprise: Mike Vick - Not sure I can 100% call this a surprise of any sorts, but it sure is disappointing, even if only from an entertainment perspective.
- Good surprise: Adrian Peterson - Playing very well, coming off a knee injury. If he can stay health this year and keep playing at this level, he'll remove any stigmas out there.
- Bad surprise: Mario Williams - That's an expensive-ass crappy defense you got there Buffalo.
- No surprise: Jets - Oh No - Mark Sanchez is struggling and they either don't want to use or don't know how to use Tebow? Let me go put on my shocked face. This is a pretty bad football team right here.
- The trajectory that the Denver Broncos are on, and coupled with their remaining schedule, should worry the rest of the AFC. I'm just saying, that team is clicking.
- Memo to the Dallas Cowboys - start filling the dump truck with money that you're going to back up to Gruden's house. Garrett has proven on more than one occasion that neither he nor his coordinators are capable of effectively managing a game, especially in the last 5 minutes. That can't work. Ever. And seriously, you should try and trade Dez Bryant yesterday while there is still equity. I'm just saying - he's not a difference maker, nor will he be while he has that attitude.
