Big Weekend

And I'll be gone for it. Heading out for a day of work on the lease tomorrow, and then opening season on Saturday. Can't wait.

It's late, I'm tired, but I owe it to all of you to fight through...must....give.....mindless.....opinions....

Texas Tech at Texas:
I'll be brief. I have absolutely no idea what to expect out of either of these teams. Tech's offense is clearly capable of doing something Texas' offense could not and that's string more than 6 positive plays together in any one time. Oh, and score. Meanwhile, Texas' defense is starting to look pretty good. Still some minor assignment and over pursuit issues, but the talent is there and you see it far more than you do on the offensive side of the ball.

But really Tech? At home? To Iowa State? In a blowout? Wow. What worries me is I can't imagine how Tech does this again. But who knows.

Here's what I think. Game is at 11am which Tech does not play especially way in early games. It's in Austin. And Texas' defense seems to be up for the task. I predict the Texas defense will get more takeaways than will the Raiders' defense, thereby giving Texas a victory.

Texas - 33
Texas Tech - 27

Game of the Century...This Week:
Quick thought - if you combined the defensive starters for both of these teams, how many would be NFL draft picks? Not necessarily studs in the game, but just draft picks? I'd say 15. Random, I know, but there's a lot of talent out there.

This is crazy, I know, but I just have this feeling that Les Miles is going to find a way to pull this off. I know, I know - they did it last year, and Saban rarely loses twice to the same team, and it's in Tuscaloosa. Blah, blah, blah. I'm just saying...I've got a gut feeling.

LSU - 26
Alabama - 21

Texas A&M at Oklahoma:
The question I posed to my colleague at the Wisdom of the Wannabes war room (which we don't have), do the aggies have a chance here? Uhh, no. I don't think so.

Oklahoma ain't going to lose 2 straight home games and they sure aren't going to lose one to the Aggies. I don't want to alarm Aggie fan out there, but I do believe this could get U-G-L-Y.

Oklahoma - 49
Texas A&M - 24
