Are You Buying It?
Because I'm not. Not until we're waist deep into the sixth week of the season and number 4 ISN'T under center....that's when I'll believe it. And if I'm not mistaken, we sit here at 10:15pm on Tuesday night without a quote from Favre. And even if we had, would you believe him? I mean, totally?
Either way, I think old Mr. Favre was getting a little bored of all this Revis this and Vincent Jackson that. What do you think Childress is thinking? Noooooooooooooooo......Sage, get in there.
Now, enough of the drama and more on the football - this is a devastating blow to the Vikings, make no mistake of that. Drama aside (and hell, even age aside), let's not forget that 2009 was one of his (if not his best) statistical year of his career. Granted, he had a lot of weapons, but he delivered....as he always has. Tarvaris Jackson? Sage Rosenfels? That's a downgrade either way you look at it. I've always wanted to (and did) give Jackson the benefit of the doubt, but at the end of he day he hasn't delivered.
Let's not forget they still have a slew of receivers, a great 1-2 punch at running back (although I think you'll see Taylor get a few more carries this year compared with last year, especially if AP doesn't cure his fumble-itis), a dominant defensive line, and an up-and-coming secondary - they've got a team, but unfortunately when you face a transition like this (and again, we'll see) it certainly is tougher to overcome than a lost D-end, tackle or running back. If this sticks, put me down for being really high (I said this coming into last year and am sticking with it this year) on the Packers' chances.
Hey, how about that....pulled some Vikings takes out of my ass to try and squeeze in some significant football talk during the first week of August. I'll take it.

- Really Lebron? Who the hell is giving you advice? And why are you taking it? Seriously, you ma want to just lay low until the season starts. Folks will ultimately forget about this stuff (except the city of Cleveland of course) once the season starts. Just go away and don't get fat or arrested.
- So let me tell you how twitter is going - I don't understand half the damn tweets/messages/whatever the hell they are...and I just tried to log in and have evidently forgotten my password or username. So not off to a hot start with twitter friends. Not giving up just yet, but it's been a rough go early on.
- Suh nets $40 mil with Detroit....damn. That is some jack.
- Ballsy Houston Nutt....or should I say Nutty.....taking on Masoli. If this doesn't work out, you may have a hard time getting a job in D1 for quite some time. At least not a head coaching job. Kid seems kind of crappy to be honest.
- I think I'd like my nickname to be Static Kill....sounds cool.
- Small story, but pretty awesome how Stuart Appleby shoots a 59 in a final round to win by a stroke. That's awesome. What, only like 7 guys have shot a 59?
- So supposedly a "solar tsunami" is going to hit tonight. Something tells me that's a tad of an over exaggeration.
